Wearable Art at LUXE Paris

You may have wondered if I’ve dropped off the face of the earth as you haven’t heard from me in quite a while. Well, I’ve been swept away in the amazing albeit busy world of LUXE Paris. I’ve walked in several fashion shows, posed for store ads, designed an ad or two, photographed a fashion show for a magazine, designed event invitations, attended parties, events, helped judge a Halloween costume contest and even attended the finale of the Miss Virtual World pageant and subsequent after-party. So far my term as LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR, has been a floodgate of unexpected and wonderful opportunities.

A Wonderful Fortuity Lands Right in my Lap!

But what I’ve been the busiest at lately was an unexpected and very exciting opportunity. LUXE Paris gave me the gift of teaching me to design clothing. I was at first shocked – I mean…who? Little ol’ me…a fashion designer? And then I was appreciative of their generosity and then very enthusiastic to learn the trade from the best. This is something I’ve dreamed of doing for a very long time, but I knew it would be a bit of a learning curve and didn’t know where to start. So Mika and Paris, the owners of this prestigious brand, taught me their designing process and before I knew it, I was addicted to designing clothes! Then we put a cool spin on the theme of the clothes, “Wearable Art” and a collection was formed.

How The Wearable Art Idea Started & Who is this Amazing Artist, Dave Brewin?

One day, LUXE Paris co-owner and designer, Mika Palmyra and I were chatting about my RL husband and his interests. I mentioned he was not only a professional photographer but an artist as well. I told her how he enjoys creating his vibrant paintings which are sold in various galleries around the lower mainland in British Columbia. I showed her the link to his website, www.artisbrewin.com and she loved his work and wisely suggested I put his art on my creations. I’ll admit it was something I had in the back of my mind. I had always been inspired by Chop Zuey‘s Britto Collection of designer clothing and jewelry that’s based on the work of artist Romero Britto. I knew it was possible but I didn’t know if I could do it. But once I learned how it could be done, it was like I was shot out of a cannon! I was so elated that I could present Dave’s art in a new way for the world to see, that I quickly became very prolific in creating the designs. Dave also thought it was a really cool concept and actually collaborated with me on some of the collection. (Well actually he offered his advice on certain things and sometimes I even took it!)

Canadian artist Dave Brewin of Art is Brewin

Each outfit features a painting hand-picked by me and has the artist’s signature somewhere in the piece. I’ve also included a certificate of authenticity from the artist (see below) with each outfit.

Also interesting to note, Mika wrote a wonderful article about the release of my debut BREWIN collection for Second Life Confidential, a Spanish Fashion Magazine (article written in Spanish), She translated it and posted the article as an English version here.

We’ve just released eight pieces from the collection at LUXE Paris. So my friends, here it is…I present to you the LUXE Paris BREWIN collection of wearable art.

BREWIN UNFORGETTABLE Gown

BREWIN UNFORGETTABLE Gown
This gown features a very special painting, NEVER FORGOTTEN which commemorates Canada’s fallen soldiers. I love wearing this gown – if I don’t say so myself!

BREWIN KEEPER Gown

BREWIN KEEPER Gown
Inspired by the recently sold aboriginal-themed painting called, KEEPER of the Word. The vibrant gown features a daring slit that goes right up to the hip bone to reveal matching panties.

BREWIN FACE Gown

BREWIN FACE Gown
This gown is based on one of BREWIN’S artistic photographs. I always found this piece mesmerizing and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to feature this cool image in this gown.

BREWIN GROOVE Dress & Boots

BREWIN Groove Dress & Boots
This dress is made from my favorite BREWIN painting called WEST COAST GROOVE. The painting is also featured in the outfit’s accompanying boots.

“Dave Brewin is a poet of colour.”

BREWIN FLIGHT in Blue Dress & Boots

BREWIN FLIGHT in Blue Outfit
Designed from the FIRST FLIGHT painting this outfit includes matching boots. I love the colours in this painting, which contrast beautifully with white.

BREWIN SOPORIFIC Outfit

BREWIN SOPORIFIC Outfit
I adore boyfriend jeans, especially when worn with a sexy leather jacket. This outfit includes the leather jacket, jeans, top, and heels and was designed from the striking SO SOPORIFIC acrylic painting.

BREWIN WORLD Swimsuit, Hat & Heels

BREWIN WORLD Swimsuit Set
If you’re like me, you’re dreaming of a winter vacation in a tropical climate. You’ll be ready for sunbathing in this bathing suit which is based on the painting, OUR WORLD HAS CHANGED matching sun hat & shoes included. The painting has a very deep and personal meaning for me and so it’s part of my personal collection.

BREWIN FUTURE Outfit

BREWIN FUTURE Outfit
This outfit is as much fun to wear as it was to make. Based on the painting, THE FUTURE DISAPPEARS INTO MEMORY, this outfit is a complete set that includes the top, pants & belt and those funky matching boots.

Note: There are two more pieces to this collection that will be released soon! Also note that not all paintings are available for purchase. To find out more go to www.artisbrewin.com

Certificates of Authenticity

Each outfit comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist and that includes a little message about the piece as seen in the example below.

The Newest Member of the Design Team

There is a very happy ending to this story. LUXE Paris has invited me to be a part of their design team! Pinch me…am I dreaming??? I knew that as the LUXE Paris brand ambassador I would have a great experience. But I had no idea that it would lead me down the path of being a clothing designer for an haute couture brand in SL. I’m touched and honored by their faith in me and am beyond excited to continue on in this journey.

In closing, I’d like to say that I hope you enjoy wearing these pieces. They were made with love and for the love of art. I’d also like to thank Mika and Paris of LUXE Paris for taking me under their wings and making me a part of their family.
